Why Recycling - Ecosystems Of Organisms: A Wonder World Of Life

Ecosystems Of Organisms: A Wonder World Of Life

When one ponders the question of whom we are and where did we come from? There are a kettle of answers and some even stir up heated debates, but the truth comes down to that we are a network of ecosystems of organisms.

What Is An Ecosystem?

An ecosystem of organisms is any group of living or nonliving things that interact with each other. Another way to look at it is that a community with its abiotic factors. Abiotic factors are soil, rain, and temperature. Ecosystems can vary in size; from the size of a puddle to the size of the Earth. Ecosystems of organisms are dependent upon a solar energy flow and finite pools of nutrients to survive.
Within each ecosystem of organisms there is a habitat and this habitat needs to supply the organisms living in the habitat with the following:

• Food source
• Water
• Temperature
• Oxygen
• Minerals

These need to be supplied within a balance and are specific for each organism habitat within the ecosystem. Different organism populations cannot occupy the same habitat at the same time; however many live side by side and may even share certain aspects of the needed supplies. They may not live within the same habitat so the processes of competition, predation, cooperation, and symbiosis can occur.

Changes And Their Affects

Just like everything in life, change can create lifetime affects. Changes in the factors of ecosystems of organisms will result in dynamic changes to the nature of the systems. Changes include:

• Nutrient availability
• Temperature
• Light intensity
• Grazing intensity
• Species population density

For example, if a fire occurs in a temperate deciduous forest will change the structure of the ecosystem of organisms. No longer will there be trees, shrubs, mosses, and herbs that occupy the forest floor. Nutrients that were stored in the biomasses are now quickly released into the soil. Now, where the trees once stood are different grasses and seedlings.

Discover And Explore

It is easy to take for granted that we are here and living day in and day out in our own habitat. However, some day you may find it interesting to stop for a moment and look around; you never know what you will discover in the way of ecosystems of organisms.

Because ecosystems can vary in size, so don't the organisms that live in the habitat within. Head out and investigate an ecosystem (even humans are considered to be a part of an ecosystem or organisms).
